Been using FSXWX for about 5 months now, it does a nice job. Here's the issue though...a PMDG flight of more than about 3 hours will crash the sim. FSXWX cannot run for more than that, and once you hit that time, FSXWX will freeze the sim for about 30 seconds at a time then load for about 5. It makes it absolutely unusable on any decently long flight, and it is making the 60 dollars for ActiveSky look really nice. It needs to be fixed, and it needs to be fixed soon...too many flights have ended because of FSXWX.

I experience this problem and I note that a number of users have posted about it. My solution on long flights is to disconnect FSXWX after reaching cruising altitude and then reconnecting again at top of decent. So as not to experience 'bland' looking skies during the bulk of the flight, I use FSX advanced weather selections to generate a few clouds and a bit of wind/turbulence. The reason I persevere with FSXWX is that it is the only way I have found of obtaining, with a degree of regularity, the destination airport weather at a distance that makes it possible to plan the descent and landing in a reasonable time. Given that there appears to be a 'bug' in the system, it would be interesting if the developer had any comments about it.

Hello there, I have the same issue.
I will try to do like you wrote, to close FSXWX on long flight and get in on near landing. But I will lose such a great weather during flight. :(
And this happened to me even on one short flight, it was less than 1 hour.
And by the way, weather provided by this add-on is great. Pretty accurate, at least from my experience.

Wow there are actually more of us. I was just looking around on different forums but none of them really matched what I was experiencing. I then came across here and come to think of it, I would say this issue only occurred when I started using FSXWX. I will admit, it only happens on long hauls usually after 4 hours or so. My sim (fsx) will freeze every 5 second for about 5 second. It makes the experience unbearable. Just looking at the flight I had to reload, I am now behind schedule by about 3 hours after flying for about 6. Luckily I saved it and continued but it would be nice to not have to do that. It must be said, FSXWX is honestly a great addon, heck I would actually consider buying it if it was payware* but this issue really does kill the experience. I never have it when doing short haul either. I will try what was mentioned above. Maybe even try doing a flight without using FSXWX to see what happens and then I will get back to here. I also saw someone else saying they reloaded the weather and it fixed it and someone else saying they disconnected of VATSIM and it stopped but then they could connect again...
