ATIS different than IFR plan - o2jmpr - 2018-03-19 I recently flew an IFR plan where FSXWX was right on the money in regards to weather. Winds were 0 in real life and FSXWX. I was given ILS 28 to land. When I checked the ATIS for the aiport the automated report said winds were 070@6 and runways in use were 10L and 10R. I was confused so I asked ATC to change my runway to 10R and all went well but after landing I'm curious where the discrepancy came from. 10R had no ILS and it was a yucky day near minimums. It seems like FSX approach controller was "smart" enough to follow weather from FSXWX but that ATIS was using different weather. How should I handle this in the future? Just ignore ATIS? Thanks! ATIS different than IFR plan - o2jmpr - 2018-03-19 Wait!!! Turns out the REAL winds were 070 at 6 and ATIS was correct! So.... That makes it more confusing. An info request from FSXWX posted winds as 0, but it apparently was sending the real metar info to FSX. Why then did approach want me to land on 28 when 10 was (correctly) in use. |
