Mulitplayer weather - JayG - 2014-01-03 I fly with a few other people online and we all use this weather program. However we dont all see the same weather at the same location at the same time. Are there different servers we are connecting to based on our actual locations? I am in Florida, another is in California, and another is in the Netherlands. As example yesterday we flew the NE US in that stormy weather, I had accurate weather based on METARS, the CA pilot had very few clouds but the wind was correct, matched mine, but the Netherlands pilot had no clouds and winds aloft were 180 degrees from what I was getting. We are all using the latest WX build. Thanks Mulitplayer weather - fsxwx - 2014-01-04 Interesting observation. Thanks for reporting. > Are there different servers we are connecting to based on our actual locations? No, there is only one server. Small cloud variations could be explained by different points in time when you connected, i.e. when the weather was fetched from the server. Once the weather is injected into FSX the cloud conditions around your CURRENT position are not adpated continuously to prevent cloud shifts. So, if you are flying around in a rather limited region the cloud depiction won't be updated. Another explanation could be a false/incomplete configuration of FSXWX. Make sure that all of you have done the setup of the wxmapping.bin and wxstationlist.bin files correctly (I have updated the instructions to describe it more precisely). If - whyever - there are still native-FSX-stations left over on the map, the weather depiction gets corrupted. > winds aloft were 180 degrees from what I was getting That's strange and I don't have an explanation for that ... except maybe the interference with Active Sky Next? Because the first released version interfered with FSGRW by blocking certain variables or fucntions also used by FSGRW via FSUIPC. As I also use certain FSUIPC offsets to control the wind, it might be the same same with FSXWX. (I can't check because I don't use ASN.) Last but not least: Can you tell me the date, time and location you are refering to? Thanks! Mulitplayer weather - JayG - 2014-01-04 Thanks for looking into this.,..... We all loaded the weather at the same time just to check the results, and it was the same, 2 of us had close weather including winds, the other didnt. None of us use ASN or any other program except the FSX built in weather. This was Friday around 1 PM EST on a flight from KATL to KDCA, but it has happened on all flights recently. I am going to double check they installed the .bin files correctly the next time we fly and will report back Mulitplayer weather - fsxwx - 2014-01-07 To check the weather I have just flown KATL-KDCA. Routing was N0439F370 DAWGS6 SPA/N0444F390 J37 GVE V453 CSN DCT AML NUMMY2. At first, here are some screenshots to simply show the weather I got during the flight. Wind dir/speed as well as the location can be seen on the ND. At KDCA the prevailing condition was FEW040. * Winds aloft were really strong up to 122kts (wow). * I didn't experience any wind shifts: wind was more or less coming from the west. * The approach into KDCA was quite bumpy with medium gusts as reported. Now the question: Is this the weather you also got? |
