For those of us interested or have had the issue, ive done a few tests and figured out the issue with long flights. This is all in FSX, not sure if P3D will differ.
Ive done a few flights between Seattle (KSEA) to Anchorage (PANC) to San Francisco (KSFO) and LA (KLAX)
Doing short regional hops in Majestic's Dash 8 q400 allows the program to work very effectively for a long time, 5+ hours non stop.
so i did a flight KSEA to PANC at a distance of 1266nm.... no issues, even to fly back
Next i tried PANC to KLAX at 2095nm and of course the glitching started after 3 hours flying.
so i did PANC to KSFO at 1771nm and same glitching
(this is all with PMDG 747)
my conclusion is then that as long as the flight isnt more than (a safe number) 1300nm, the program will work fine, given you put the Dep and Arr into the program.
i may do more tests on the exact limit or see if putting Dep and Arr is a factor
