I recently flew an IFR plan where FSXWX was right on the money in regards to weather. Winds were 0 in real life and FSXWX. I was given ILS 28 to land. When I checked the ATIS for the aiport the automated report said winds were 070@6 and runways in use were 10L and 10R.
I was confused so I asked ATC to change my runway to 10R and all went well but after landing I'm curious where the discrepancy came from. 10R had no ILS and it was a yucky day near minimums.
It seems like FSX approach controller was "smart" enough to follow weather from FSXWX but that ATIS was using different weather.
How should I handle this in the future? Just ignore ATIS?
Thanks!
